EMCA and CRUK Talk Cancer: More than 200 people trained to confidently talk about cancer

We have been privileged to work alongside Cancer Research UK to deliver 12 Talk Cancer workshops across the five East Midlands Integrated Care Board (ICB) areas.

Between December 2025 and May 2026, 223 people attended online, face-to-face and Train the Presenter sessions designed to build knowledge and confidence around cancer prevention, screening and early diagnosis.

Boosting Cervical Screening Uptake: Appt Health’s Work Gathers Momentum Across the East Midlands

A major 24‑month East Midlands Cancer Alliance cervical screening improvement programme, led by Appt Health and funded through the SBRI NHS England Cancer Programme, is now well underway — and early signs show meaningful progress in reconnecting those least likely to attend screening. Delivered in partnership with Imperial College London and Prova Health, we have been working directly with ICBs, and GP practices across the East Midlands.

Thousands of Life-Saving Lung Cancer Screening Checks Delivered Across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire

More than 5,000 people in England have received earlier lung cancer diagnoses thanks to an innovative NHS initiative. Across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire alone, over 55,000 lung cancer screening checks have now been completed helping to save lives through earlier detection.

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust Launches Innovative PemOla Pancreatic Cancer Trial

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust is leading a pioneering clinical trial, PemOla, focused on pancreatic cancer. This trial is also serving as a pilot for the NIHR’s new Just in Time scheme, which enables hospitals to rapidly join a trial as soon as they identify eligible patients—eliminating the need to refer them to pre-established trial sites.
