A) Subsequent 2ww clinic appointment following direct referral from BPC

The following fields were entered into the ‘Core data’ section:

• 2WW clinic appointment date
• Subsequent 2WW appointment outcome:
  • No abnormal pathology found
  • Malignancy diagnosed

B) Subsequent 2ww clinic referral within 3 months following discharge from BPC

A cross check of all BPC attendees NHS numbers to identify any that have been referred to the breast 2WW clinic within 3 months of CBPC appointment.

The following fields were entered into the ‘Follow up’ section of the Excel spreadsheet for all identified patients:

• NHS Number
• 2WW clinic appointment date
• Referral symptoms
  • Breast pain only
  • New symptoms
• Subsequent 2WW appointment outcome:
  • No abnormal pathology found
  • Malignancy diagnosed (complete section C)

C) Subsequent Breast Cancer Diagnosis in a CBPC attendee within one year

A cross check of all BPC attendees NHS numbers to identify any that have had a breast cancer diagnosis at the Trust within 12 months of CBPC appointment. The following fields to be entered into the ‘Cancer Diagnosis’ section of the Excel spreadsheet for all identified patients:

• NHS Number
• Date of diagnosis

Time gap from BPC attendance (calculated)

• Method of diagnosis:
  • Screening a) NHSBSP b) Recommended BPC
  • Symptomatic
• Site of cancer in relation to site of initial breast pain
