The East Midlands Cancer Alliance Centre for Psychosocial Health has received a High Commendation at the 2025 HSJ Awards in the Category Improving Mental Health Through Digital.

Hosted by comedian Ed Byrne, the event welcomed more than 900 attendees, including 208 shortlisted finalists competing across 25 categories. Judged by a panel of 112 experts, the awards recognised excellence in digital innovation, patient safety, and improved outcomes.

The event spotlighted organisations and teams that have harnessed technology to address some of the sector’s most complex challenges. With more than 400 entries submitted, the evening served as a powerful reminder of the pace and promise of digital change across health and care.

Dr James Rathbone, Consultant Clinical Psychologist said: "I’m feeling so proud that our service received a high commendation in the category of Improving Mental Health through Digital. To have the hard work of our amazing team recognised at a national level through these awards is wonderful.

So many people have contributed to this success and I’m so grateful for all the individuals and teams we get to work across the East Midlands. We’ll continue to strive for excellence to improve the lives of those living with and beyond cancer and really looking forward to what the future holds, but for now, enjoying this exciting moment!"

Congratulations to all involved in this exciting innovation!
